Simulacra (In Progress)
Since the red rose moves forward, it will probably be adjusted to overlap the eye area somewhat. The clouds recede so they will remain totally behind the eye. The threads mark some major divisions and accentuate the point of resolution. Additional horizontal divisions will perhaps be added to achieve a "tile" effect and to maximize flat adhesion of the elements to the substrate. The black areas will be trimmed away and the entire composition moved up so that additional elements can be added in the foreground.
All of the elements are coated front and back with Golden Acrylic Gloss Medium. A cellophane sleeve protects the eye and facilitates re-positioning until the composition is finalized. The substrate is Thai Unryu adhered to gessoed masonite with acrylic medium. The dimensions are 20x16 inches.
